Curtin Mass Comm student films screened on RTM television

Two documentary films made by Curtin Sarawak’s very own BA Mass Communication students have been screened on RTM TV 1’s Program Karyawan Muda 2008 show in September; the production of both films was supervised by Film & Television Lecturer Rama Venkatasawmy. Also screened were interviews with the students involved – conducted by Mass Communication Lecturer Mawi Taip and recorded in the Film & Television facilities.

Both films have been entered in the Program Karyawan Muda 2008 competition – a national short film competition jointly organised by Filem Negara Malaysia, Radio Televisyen Malaysia and the Malaysian Ministry of Information.

The deadline for submitting entries is end of October, after which the competition jury will shortlist some of the films entered for further voting.
The competition’s final results will be known in January 2009.

This is the second time that Curtin Sarawak Mass Comm student films are aired nationally on RTM television and seen by thousands (Nenek Inyak was the previous Curtin Mass Comm student film screened on RTM Television; it won a national award in 2007).

Congratulations and good luck to these Curtin Mass Communication students.
