Curtin Sarawak Celebrating Over 300 Graduates

Curtin Sarawak once again is proudly celebrating another batch of graduates class of 2007. A total of 337 students of doctoral, undergraduate and postgraduate degree graduates are receiving their scrolls tonight.
The event is attended by a host of local and foreign guests, proud parents, friends and lecturers to witness the honourable ceremony.
Eighty percent of Curtin students are Malaysian and celebrations like this enforces Curtin’s presence in the region and plays a significant role in contributing towards nation building. According to Dean Dr. Joan Gribble, “ Curtin has been preparing for a skilled and technologically savvy workforce that will embody professionalism, cultural diversity, ethical behaviour and a penchant for life long learning.”
Curtin Sarawak has been operating for 9 years and has ever since producing increasing number of graduates annually. Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof John Evans comments, “We may have to start thinking ways to manage and organise such events in the future to accommodate our students’ numbers.”
Student’s representative, Daryl How claims, “Curtin Sarawak is indeed a recommended place to study for there really isn’t much distraction. During my tenure in Student Council, I’ve learned to listen to various views and proposed to management. The supportive management had ensured development of Curtin. Upon completion of my studies, I quickly managed to get myself a job. I am proud to share with my fellow lecturers that I am currently working with Bridgestone Global Engineering Consultants Sdn. Bhd.”
Students and guests are made more inspired by, Miri General Hospital Director, Dr. Uma Devi. “My needs are simple and I get attracted to people who can be of good influence to me and society. Issues acted as a positive stimulus to make determined effort into spiritual aspects of life which made my thoughts clearer and realised the importance of values, values in what I do as well as others do.”
It has been a tradition that Curtin Sarawak celebrates students’ studies completion in May. However, graduation of 2008 is scheduled in April in conjunction of Curtin’s 10th year anniversary.
