Curtin Volunteers! lends a helping hand

The Curtin Volunteers! (CV!) Sarawak Chapter, a Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Campus, student-run not-for-profit organization will be running a fundraising project named “We Love, We Care” in Bintang Plaza, Miri on Sunday, 14th September 2008.
The event is from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm and all activities will take place at the concourse area of Bintang Plaza.
The objectives of the event are, to raise funds for The Palliative Care Association Miri and to promote the spirit of volunteerism among the Miri community. The funds collected for the day will be channeled to the Palliative Care Association. The handover of funds will take place during the closing ceremony at 3.45 pm.
Aileen Chuo, the President of CV!, comments “When we organized and ran this event two years ago to collect funds for the Single-Mothers’ Association Miri, we managed to collect RM1100. This time we are hoping that we could top that collection amount,” She also added that Yang Berhormat Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister of Infrastructure development and Telecommunications, has been invited to attend the closing ceremony to witness the hand-over of the funds.
The day’s event includes performances by the Curtin Volunteers! Visitor to the mall will be entertained with dance and song performances and a magic show. There will also be mini-games, lemonade stall and raffles ticket for sale.
Two lucky draw sessions will be held and the donating public stand to win six high tea vouchers, sponsored by Dynasty Hotel, and two hampers, sponsored by Nestle Pty. Ltd. Miri.
