Oil & Gas Colloquium to be held in conjunction with Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak’s CUTSE International Conference
Posted date:Miri – 21 November 2008 – A colloquium highlighting research, innovations, technologies and creative solutions to pressing global oil and gas issues will be held in conjunction with Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Malaysia (CSM)’s Science and Engineering International Conference (CUTSE) 2008 on 25 November 2008.
The ‘Oil & Gas Colloquium 2008’ is the first of its kind to be held in conjunction with the 4-day CUTSE International Conference, which is a first in itself, being the first to see international participation from academics and researchers from a number of countries.
Both the conference and colloquium are being organised by the university’s School of Engineering and Science and will be held at the CSM Campus here. Participation is free of charge and industry professionals, students and researchers interested in oil and gas related issues are encouraged to attend.
Among the objectives of the colloquium is to offer a platform for industry players to learn more about the latest developments and operating practices that have contributed significantly to oil and gas exploration. Key papers on various aspects of the oil and gas industry will be presented by academics and industry professionals.
Among the key speakers for the event are Professor Anthony D. Owen and Dato Ir. Wee Yiaw Hin.
Owen is Professor of Energy Economics and Co-Director of the Oil and Gas Management Area of Research Excellence at the Curtin Business School, Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia. He also serves on the International Editorial Boards of Energy Policy and Energy Sources.
Dato Ir. Wee, meanwhile, is the Managing Director of Sarawak Shell Berhad and manages the exploration and production business for Shell Malaysia. He leads Shell’s Country Leadership Team that oversees the company’s upstream operations, and represents the business in the Shell Malaysia Business Council.
