Professor Andreas Zins is new dean of Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business
Posted date:Miri – 4 May 2020 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) has appointed Professor Andreas H. Zins as the new dean of its Faculty of Business.
Professor Zins brings some 30 years’ experience in higher education to the position. Prior to this, he was dean of a dual-degree programme and Full Professor of Tourism Management at MODUL School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Nanjing (affiliated to Nanjing Tech University Pujiang Institute), adjunct Full Professor of Tourism Management at MODUL University Vienna, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Marketing at University of Economics and Business, Vienna, Austria.
He also served as Programme Director (Vice-Dean) for Business Administration study programmes at WU Wien (University of Economics and Business, Vienna) and as Academic Director for Certificate Programmes for the Tourism Academy Austria and the WU Wien Executive Academy.
In addition, he has organised numerous international university summer schools in Vietnam, Thailand, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria.
Professor Zins has vast experience lecturing entrepreneurship, marketing, tourism management and marketing, modelling of consumer and travel behaviour, and marketing research.
His research interests include tourism behaviour, marketing research, destination image, social impacts, tourism spending, theme parks, cultural and other leisure attractions.
Professor Zins’ publication record is also impressive, having published five books, edited four other books, contributed 31 book chapters, 30 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, 48 contributions in refereed conference proceedings, 71 peer-reviewed conference presentations, 22 invited conference presentations, and 68 research reports. From 2013 to 2016, he served as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Research.

Meanwhile, Professor Zins said he is looking forward to working with his colleagues at Curtin Malaysia and leading the Faculty of Business.
“Despite the challenges of an increasingly competitive and global market, and the economic hardship brought about by the global pandemic, I am buoyed by the tremendous progress the Faculty has made in recent years in terms of advances in learning and teaching, programme accreditation and research,” commented Professor Zins.
