Public invited to join Curtin Malaysia’s webinar on suicide prevention

Miri – 20 November 2020 – Members of the public are invited to join a free webinar titled ‘How to Respond to Someone who is Feeling Suicidal’ that is being organised by the Health, Counselling & Disability Services Department of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia).

It will be held from 2pm to 3pm on 25 November 2020 in conjunction with World Mental Health Day 2020.

The speakers will be Registered University Counsellors Jessica Akang and Dorety Panggil, who will conduct the talk in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.

During the webinar, Jessica and Dorety will talk about the prevalence of suicides in Malaysia and in the world, as well as the signs and symptoms of suicidal people. They will also talk about the do’s and don’ts in dealing with suicidal people.

Besides the general public, the webinar would be relevant to secondary school and tertiary students, teachers and school counsellors, as well as those who work among young people.
