MCI Market Research for Miri Residents Begin Today

MIRI, 19 February 2005 – Miri City Incorporated (MCI) Market Research themed “Making Miri a Better City” moves to its second stage of survey today, focusing on the Miri residents with the aim to interview up to 4,500 Mirians from all walks of life. The interviewers from a dynamic team of 30 Curtin Sarawak students will hit the streets of Miri covering areas such as shopping centres, mini markets, tamu, parks and gardens, commercial centres, as well as rural areas such as Lambir, Sibuti and Niah.

Miri residents approached for interviews are anticipated to actively participate in the survey by spending just 10 to 15 minutes of their time to complete the questionnaires. Each resident who participates will also be offered one lucky draw ticket, which will entitle him or her to win three lucky draw prizes worth RM5, 000 – a 29″ television, a refrigerator or a microwave oven. The announcement of these lucky draw winners will be part of the city celebration in May 2005.

The first stage of the market research, which began following its launching early February, has successfully collected 300 questionnaires from the tourists and visitors, who have been very cooperative and supportive towards this effort. The information gathered through this survey will assist MCI in their review and implementation of the Master Plan to develop Miri into a city of repute.
