Find out about a global education with Curtin Malaysia at its Academic Open Day

Miri – 15 March 2018 – Students with SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Levels and A-Levels results who are interested in starting a foundation programme or an undergraduate course at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) are invited to find out all they need to know about the university at its Academic Open Day this Saturday, 17 March 2018.

The event, to be held at its campus here from 10 am to 4 pm, is aimed at generating interest in the fields of study at Curtin Malaysia, which are engineering, science, business and arts, in addition to aspects such as facilities and campus life, scholarships, and career prospects in different disciplines.

It is a perfect opportunity for SPM leavers, in particular, to find out more about the current intake for Curtin Malaysia’s Foundation programmes in engineering and science, commerce and arts (media), which is ongoing until the end of the month.

Guided tours of the campus will also be conducted on an hourly basis throughout the day so visitors can experience first-hand its campus facilities and unique environment amidst the picturesque wetlands in Senadin.

“We invite potential students to come discover why Curtin Malaysia is such a great place to study. As a higher education can be quite a huge investment, we offer them the attractive proposition of a world-class, yet very affordable, Australian tertiary education at Malaysian fees right at their doorstep,” said Curtin Malaysia’s pro vice-chancellor, president and chief executive, Professor Jim Mienczakowski.

A key highlight of the day will be showcases of Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Engineering and Science, Faculty of Business and Faculty of Humanities at the Recreation and Event Centre. Visitors will be able to meet lecturers and current students, view exhibits and try out interactive displays to learn more about the applications of science, engineering and technology; gain insights into finance and entrepreneurship; and experience the intriguing world of media and communication.

In addition, the faculties’ deans will give visitors overviews of their respective faculties in the LTBS 1 Lecture Theatre at the Faculty of Business building between 10.30 am and 1.00 pm.

Staff of the university’s Loans and Scholarships section will also be available to give advice on scholarships and study loans, including the newly-introduced Curtin Malaysia Foundation Scholarships amounting to RM3 million for outstanding SPM students to undertake one-year Foundation programmes, and the Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships for outstanding SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level and A-Level students to enter foundation and degree programmes.

Another must-go-to place at the Recreation and Event Centre will be the Future Students Booth manned by marketing staff, where potential students can get all the information they need to make informed decisions about enrolment. They are advised to bring along their exam results and other supporting documents for on-the-spot assessments and application.

From 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm, concurrent program-specific talks will be given by lecturers and students of the faculties in the LTCL 4, 5 and 8 lecture rooms in the Faculty of Business building. The talks will cover a range of topics from finance, marketing and management, to media and communication, and the various engineering and science disciplines at Curtin Malaysia.
