Potential students encouraged to enrol for Curtin Malaysia’s degree intake, now extended to 15 August

Miri – 1 August 2018 – Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) has extended its current mid-year (Semester 2) degree programmes intake to 15 August 2018 to cater to A-Level and other school leavers keen to enter its undergraduate programmes.

Though classes have commenced following a week-long orientation last week, newly-enrolled students will still be able to catch up through special orientation sessions in place of the formal orientation and replacement learning sessions for missed classes.

Curtin Malaysia offers undergraduate courses in engineering and related sciences, business and humanities that are identical to those offered at Curtin’s main campus in Perth, as well as courses at pre-university level that feed directly into its undergraduate programmes.

The courses benefit from the input of industrial partners and the campus’ location in the industrial and oil and gas hubs of Sarawak, where students can gain valuable industry exposure.

Many of the courses are in subject areas in which Curtin University is ranked as a top 100 university by the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018: Mineral and Mining Engineering (No. 2), Earth and Marine Sciences (No. 42), Chemical Engineering, and Civil and Structural Engineering.

It is also in the top echelons of world universities for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Accounting and Finance, Business and Management Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Communication & Media Studies, and Computer Science & Information Systems.

Curtin Malaysia has launched a number of new courses this year, further expanding its diverse and sought-after course offerings. They include a Bachelor of Arts (Construction Management) and Bachelor of Science (Computing) with streams in Software Engineering and Cybersecurity, as well as a new Journalism Stream under its Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication).

In addition to the degree programmes intake, the campus’ foundation programmes intake is also ongoing until the commencement of classes on 13 August 2018. All three faculties at Curtin Malaysia offer foundation courses that are intensive, focused one-year courses that prepare students for undergraduate study in their chosen fields.

Curtin Malaysia is Curtin University’s largest international campus and global hub in Asia. It is also the largest Australian international campus in the world. With campuses in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius and connections with over 90 partner institutions across the world, Curtin University is a global university ranked in the top one per cent of universities worldwide in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities 2017.
